SDA and Marlow Builders (Luton) were appointed following a competitive tender, to deliver a new English and Drama teaching block to accommodate expanding student numbers.
The use of a SIPs solution located on the retained slab and foundation of the original 1970s building, maximised the provision of teaching and social spaces for the budget.
The building features a double height foyer for media presentations, eight English classrooms, Film and Media Suite, Sixth Form social and café space and Drama Performance Suite, plus the refurbishment of the adjacent connecting Sixth Form study space.
In parallel, a new student and visitor reception is located at the front of the site on the retained footprint of the former caretaker’s house, and similarly uses a SIPs structure. The facility creates a signpost for the school at the front of the site and controls site access and safeguarding.
The project was completed August 2018.
