Rainhill High School, Prescot
SDA, in conjunction with AA Projects, were appointed by Ashlawn School to look at providing additional teaching accommodation to cope with increasing student numbers.
Through a series of feasibility studies, we identified that an area at the front of the school, between two existing buildings, which would provide disabled access to the first floors; a dedicated secure entrance to the campus and access to the 6 No. classrooms and activity space.
The façade uses a distinctive timber rainscreen cladding and yellow render palette to give a contrast between the adjacent buildings, and to provide a focus to the school entrance.
The proposal has received Planning Approval in readiness for a Condition Improvement Fund bid.
